As an avid traveler, I only travel with a carry on suitcase. While prepping for my trip to Greece, I grabbed my suitcase from the basement and noticed that wheel had busted.
Literally 4 days before my trip and I was panicking, OK not really panicking just pissed cause I had to buy a new suitcase. For years I always had a soft-style suitcase and never had issues. I thought, why not try a hard case. So here is my review on the CALPAK suitcase.
I saw the CALPAK suitcase on instagram and facebook posted by travel bloggers and millennials. I thought I’d give it try. I purchased the Rose Gold colored carry-on and immediately fell in love. The color was perfect, I liked the interior separators and the idea that it was lightweight.
I packed all my things with no issues and the weight was under the regulated amount for carryon. Past trips I normally carry on. This trip I decided to CHECK IN, something I NEVER do. I wanted to relax on my flight and pick up the bag when I reached Athens.
Waiting at the luggage belt, my bag finally makes an appearance. I grab it carefully as I don’t want to knock the person behind me over. And there it was, my CALPAK suitcase with big dent in the front – What the heck! I was pissed as I thought this should have lasted a little longer.
Wheeling the CALPAK suitcase was not easy either, it was sticking as I was pulling it through the airport. I know, it doesn’t sound so good, I promise there are good things too. I stayed with family in Athens before heading to Chios and the CALPAK was great for storing my clothes and shoes.
Fast forward, leaving Chios to Athens I checked my suitcase with no issues. Arriving in Newark, I grabbed my bag off the belt and found more damage, the exterior coating was scraped on the plastic casing. At this point, I should have stayed with a soft-style suitcase for traveling international.
